Why this conversation -- PART 1. RON SIDER'S CHAPTERS (WITH BEN LOWE'S RESPONSES). Will you remember evangelism? -- Will you reaffirm truth as you learn from postmodernism? -- Will you keep your marriage vows better than my generation? -- Will you lead the church to a better stance on homosexuality? A better vision -- PART 2. BEN LOWE'S CHAPTERS (WITH RON SIDER'S RESPONSES). Will we live more like Jesus? -- Will we renew our political witness? -- Will we reconcile our divisions better? -- Will we recover our responsibility for God's creation? -- Conclusion : Jesus at the center.
Two evangelical leaders discuss key issues that will define the church's faithfulness in the next generation. In the first half Sider raises issues he feels are important for millenials to consider and Lowe responds. In the second half Lowe raises questions of his own and Sider responds. Sidebar reflections from notable Christian leaders (Christena Cleveland, Jim Daly, Jason Fileta, Christopher A. Hall, Jo Anne Lyon, Gabriel Salguero, Carol and Peter Schreck, Nicholas Wolterstorff, and Jenny Yang) add another perspective to each topic. Each chapter concludes with study questions for individuals or small groups.
